Jack Kiyonaga

I'm a writer and journalist living in Washington DC. I started my career in Molokai, Hawai'i, where I served as the Editor-in-Chief of the award-winning local newspaper, The Molokai Dispatch. Since moving back to the east coast in 2025 to begin an MFA in Creative Writing at NYU, I've continued to work for various news outlets on everything from water pollution to homeless outreach missions to a teacher's journey to clear his name. My work has been featured in the Christian Science Monitor, The Banner, Alexandria Times, Bethesda Magazine, National Catholic Reporter, Catholic Standard, Hana Hou!, FLUX Hawaii, Honolulu Civil Beat, Halekulani Living, Ko Olina Hale and more. I graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor's degree in English.
